Director - Mohit Suri Cast - John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, Tara
Sutaria
"Ravana is the hero of his story and Daryodhana is also the hero of his story. The only difference is that everyone knows the story of the hero, no one knows the story of a villain." Inspector (JD Chakraborty) investigating the murders in the city it is said. As deep as this dialogue sounds, if the characters and story had been made so deep, then perhaps the film would have been different.

In this sequel of the 2014 film 'Ek Villain', the story revolves around two couples. All the characters sometimes seem to be heroes, sometimes villains.. But by the end, the veil of many big mysteries is removed. But do these secrets impress you? So the answer is no.

'Ek Villain Returns' is weak in many respects. The very loose script and the performances of all the actors do not let you bind with the film. Therefore, there is no experience of suspense, nor thrill. Yes, after a few minutes, the film definitely starts to get boring. His songs used to be the hallmark of Mohit Suri's films, but this time he was disappointed here too.

Story
Ek Villain Returns is the story of unrequited love between two men. The paths they choose to complete their love stories decide who is the hero and who is the villain! Eight years after Rakesh Mahadkar (Riteish Deshmukh) ends terror, another serial killer is born in Mumbai, who is even more brutal and dangerous. This villain also hides his face behind the same mask. As one officer puts it, "Yeh Villain wants to be the messiah of one-sided lovers..." It kills girls who reject boys' love.

instruction
Along with directing the film, Mohit Suri has also written its screenplay. The most important thing for a suspense thriller film is a story that can keep the audience hooked and looking forward to the future. But the script of this film is so weak that the first few minutes feel boring. Everyone gets involved in giving twist to each character. Also, the way the film depicts violence and murders is quite questionable. How does using love as your greatest weapon serve the sole purpose of killing someone! Disha's character in the film says, "Self-defense is all aloud, both the hand-breaker and the heart-breaker..."
Ek Villain Returns Opening - Box office hit on first day, very bad opening!
Technical aspects
The editing of the film is done by Devendra Murdeshwar, which is average. The story of the film runs continuously at a gap of few months. This pattern is also quite interesting, but the constant jumping of the story into today and yesterday... distracts from the story. The action choreography is well done. At the same time, Vikas Sivaraman's cinematography is also average.
music
The songs of the film are composed by Ankit Tiwari, Tanishk Bagchi and Kaushik-Guddu. The lyrics of the song are written by Manoj Muntashir, Kunal Verma, Tanishk Bagchi and Prince Dubey. The score of the film has been composed by Raju Singh. However, there was a time when the songs of Mohit Suri's films were in the news for years.. But Ek Villain Returns absolutely disappoints. 'Galiyan', which is taken from the old film itself, leaves the same impression. The rest of the songs leave no impact except to enhance the story.
rating
If you prefer action suspense thriller genre, then rewatching 2014's Ek Villain would be a better option than watching 'Ek Villain Returns'. This film starring Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria is weak in every sense. One and a half stars to 'Ek Villain Returns' from Filmibeat.

Gautam Mehra (Arjun Kapoor) is the son of a wealthy family. He is cruel and his only aim in life is "to die but not to die".. so he meets RV Malhotra, a singer. The two have a few meetings and then fall in love. But soon there is a storm in RV's life when Gautam betrays her and leaves her. At the same time, the second story goes on Bhairav (John Abraham) and (Rasika). Cab driver Bhairav falls in love with Rasika at first sight. The two grow closer, but soon Bhairav realizes that Rasika is cheating on him. He breaks. There comes a time, the four characters connect with each other, but here who is the villain, who dies and who survives, the whole story revolves around this.

acting
Arjun Kapoor in the character of Gautam is better than all the four actors. The director has given him a style, a swag, which the actor has retained throughout the film. Arjun falls short in emotional scenes, but his action sequences with John Abraham grab the attention. Tara and Arjun's chemistry disappoints. The director has given a good arc to Disha Patani in the role of Rasika. Disha tries to do justice to the character, but right now she needs to work on her expressions. And the same applies to John Abraham. John has been seen flat with his face throughout the film except for the action sequence. Supporting actors like JD Chakraborty, Shaad Randhawa have done a good job but were given very limited screen time.
