Man charged after two paramedics stabbed at his dwelling

A 52-year-old man has been charged with wounding two paramedics who had been stabbed throughout a 999 welfare call-out to his dwelling.

Martyn Smith of Stephens Shut, Wolverhampton, is accused of two counts of wounding with intent, following an incident at a maisonette on Monday, West Midlands Police stated.

The assault unfolded after medics Michael Hipgrave and Deena Evans gained entry to a maisonette within the highway at about 12.20pm.

Smith was Tasered and arrested on the scene, which was described as "one thing off the TV" by a neighbour who witnessed the incident.

Mr Hipgrave, who suffered a slash wound to his again and required surgical procedure, was discharged from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on Monday night time. He continues his restoration at dwelling, stated the West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Ms Evans suffered a stab wound to the chest and stays on the hospital in a secure situation after present process surgical procedure.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service stated each employees members had been “recovering nicely”.

Smith stays in police custody and is about to seem at Wolverhampton Magistrates Courtroom on Wednesday, stated the drive.
